Astigmatism LASIK

Astigmatism and The Day Before SMILE Eye Surgery

When I first heard about SMILE’s preapproval for people with astigmatism, I was excited. I’ve wanted laser vision correction for a long time. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was nine. I started wearing contacts at sixteen, and they never quite worked as well as glasses. My astigmatism makes it so that contacts just don’t sit right in my eyes, so they end up being more a hassle than they’re worth.

SMILE has been life-changing for so many patients at our office. Every week, I watch patients come in and say that making the choice to have Dr. Haddad fix their vision was the best decision they’ve ever made, and they wish they’d made the decision sooner. I have to say, I was a bit envious that the newest and most advanced procedure wasn’t yet available to patients with my prescription. I’m so glad Dr. Haddad told me to wait.

I Can’t Wait for ReLex SMILE!

Getting Ready For SMILE!

Breaking News

The minute the news came through that SMILE would be approved for a larger range of patients, I made my consultation appointment. I knew that I wanted to be the first! I’ve watched Dr. Haddad change so many lives, and I can’t wait to see the world through new eyes, without glasses.

The Next Steps

I’m not nervous about my procedure tomorrow. I’ve followed all the instructions, picked up my eye drops from the pharmacy, and I have someone on deck to hang out tomorrow while I’m having SMILE for astigmatism.

To be honest, the thing I’m most excited about after tomorrow is being able to watch movies in bed, laying on my side, with NO GLASSES. And I’m really looking forward to traveling and going to the gym without the hassle of switching back and forth between glasses and contacts. I seriously can’t wait to see what the world is like glasses-free—and I’ll certainly keep you posted 😉
